Shawna and Danny Lowe, of Huntsville, AL, knew where they had to be early last Sunday morning--and they knew they had to get there as soon as possible. So the couple jumped into their car and stepped on the gas.
But two miles before they arrived at their destination, they were stopped by Alabama state trooper Michael Kesler, who pulled them over for speeding. And that's when things got a bit hairy.
Shawna, a mom of one, was in labor--and the baby just didn't want to wait. So Trooper Kesler delivered the Lowes' second child, a boy. And the heroics didn't stop there. The trooper helped clean the baby, called for an ambulance, and kept Shawna and her newborn warm until it arrived.
Then the trooper coordinated the logistics with the first responders and the Lowes' family doctor; afterward, he accompanied Danny to the hospital while his wife and newborn son were taken there by ambulance.
That still wasn't enough! As the parents and baby settled in, Kesler went to a grocery store to buy gifts: cupcakes, flowers, and a newborn starter kit. He even returned for a visit when he was off duty!
No wonder this story is getting so much attention. It's yet another example of a police officer going above and beyond!
