Claire Annable had been big her entire life. A size 14 at age 12, she was often bullied for being twice the size of her peers when she was younger. So she would eat sweets all day for comfort. And her weight became an even bigger issue as an adult.
Addicted to pizza, Annable ate nearly 200 extra-large whole pizzas each year. She'd also gorge on cheesy garlic bread and chips. On top of that, her childhood sweets habit also followed her into adulthood. The mom of two ultimately tipped the scale at 248 pounds and wore a size 24.
She's never eaten a vegetable in her life.Posted by The Mirror on Sunday, April 3, 2016
She's never eaten a vegetable in her life.
Though Annable fed her children healthy food, she never touched it herself. And her health took a toll. But her weight affected even more than that. One day at an amusement park, a ride she was on suddenly went to a total standstill.
She was ordered to get off by staff, since her size was causing it to not move.
"I went home and I wanted to cry," she says. "Imagine being so fat you couldn’t move a ride full of people. That was the reality I had to live with."
But in 2009, things turned around when a friend suggested she try out Weight Watchers with her. After learning about healthy eating at the first meeting, she immediately stocked up on vegetables.
"I was nervous when I first ate some broccoli and a stick of carrot – I thought I’d spit it straight out, but it actually tasted really nice," she said.
Though giving up her pizzas was a huge challenge, finding love of veggies helped her reach her goals.
Today, she's a healthy 146 pounds and enjoys nutritious meals like fruit and yogurt and chicken salad, and she snacks on fruit and nuts. She has even become a Weight Watchers consultant herself.
